CallSlate Terms of Use
Last updated: 2 September 2026 Applies to: the CallSlate mobile application, CallSlate Studio, and the supporting API.
Which agreement applies. CallSlate is licensed to you under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which you can read at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. The terms below describe how CallSlate works in practice and how we handle your schedules, your account and your subscription. They supplement that licence. Where the two differ, Apple's Standard EULA applies.
1. Who we are, and what you are agreeing to
CallSlate is operated by Cinefix / Mike Eijkelenboom, based in the Netherlands.
By downloading, installing or using CallSlate, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What CallSlate does
CallSlate turns a shooting schedule or run of show into a live countdown: on your phone, on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, and on Apple Watch. It can import a schedule from a PDF, a Word document or pasted text, track costs, travel and gear, show weather for a venue, and share a read-only version of a schedule with your crew.
CallSlate is a planning and timing tool. It does not direct your shoot, and it is not a safety system.
3. Your account is optional
The app works without an account. Your projects, schedules, crew and gear are stored on your own device and are not uploaded to us.
You can sign in with Sign in with Apple if you want a subscription to be recognised across reinstalls and devices. Signing in gives us your Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, an email address (which may be one of Apple's private relay addresses).
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. No email, no form, no waiting for us.
Deleting your account:
- removes your account record, your email address and your subscription record from our servers;
- signs out every device linked to that account;
- ends the Sign in with Apple connection on Apple's side.
Two things it deliberately does not do:
- It does not delete your projects, because we never had them. Schedules, crew and gear live on your device. Deleting the app from your device removes those.
- It does not cancel a Pro subscription. Apple handles subscriptions, so cancel it in your Apple Account settings if you have not already. See section 4.
If you cannot reach the app to delete your account, email privacy@callslate.app and we will do it for you.
4. Subscriptions and payment
Some features require a paid subscription (Pro).
- Apple handles all payment. Purchases are made through your Apple Account and are governed by Apple's terms as well as these.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your Apple Account settings. We cannot cancel a subscription for you.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Requests go through Apple's support.
- Prices can change. Where Apple requires it, you will be asked to agree before a price increase takes effect.
- If a subscription lapses, paid features stop working. Everything you already created stays on your device and remains fully readable and editable.
- Pro includes 80 AI imports per 30 days. Every import costs us real money at the AI provider, so there is a ceiling that protects the service against runaway or automated use. It is set well above normal professional use: a full month of shoot days, with retries, stays comfortably below it. The window rolls: it is the last 30 days at any moment, not a calendar month. If you do reach it, the app says so and the ceiling resets by itself. We will tell you in advance if we ever need to lower it.
5. AI import: what it does, and what you must check
When you import a PDF or Word document, or paste text, the content is sent to our server and processed by a third-party AI service (currently OpenAI) to detect a schedule. The app asks for your agreement the first time you use this.
Two things you accept when you use it:
- Do not upload confidential material you are not allowed to share. Call sheets often contain other people's personal data. Make sure you have the right to process it.
- Always check the result. AI extraction is not guaranteed to be accurate or complete. Times, names and locations can be misread. You are responsible for verifying an imported schedule before relying on it.
6. Weather, travel times and other estimates
CallSlate shows weather forecasts, drive-time estimates and, for film and photography projects, an indication of whether conditions look suitable for flying a drone.
All of these are estimates and none of them are advice. Specifically:
- Weather comes from Apple Weather and can be wrong or out of date.
- Drive times are predictions and do not account for what actually happens on the road.
- The drone indicator reflects weather only. It is not a permit check, an airspace clearance, or a judgement about whether flying is legal or safe where you are. You are responsible for your drone's own limits, your insurance, local rules, temporary restrictions and no-fly zones.
Never make a safety decision on the basis of what CallSlate shows you.
7. Your content
Anything you create in CallSlate is yours. We claim no ownership over your schedules, notes, crew lists or gear lists.
When you create a share link or QR code, a reduced copy of the schedule (titles, times and locations, without notes, crew contact details or costs) is stored on our servers so the link can be opened. Share links expire after 30 days and you can revoke one earlier from the app. Anyone with the link can read it, so treat it as public.
8. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- use CallSlate to break the law, or to process personal data you have no right to process;
- attempt to bypass usage limits, subscription checks or rate limits;
- automate, scrape or resell access to the service;
- reverse-engineer the app or its API except where that right cannot be excluded by law.
We may suspend access that damages the service or other users.
9. Availability
CallSlate depends on services we do not control, including Apple's push and weather services and our hosting providers. Features that need a network (AI import, sharing, weather, drive times) can be unavailable temporarily.
The core of the app, your schedule and its live countdown, is designed to keep working offline on your device.
We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue something you paid for, Apple's refund process applies.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, CallSlate is provided "as is". We are not liable for lost production time, missed shots, missed calls, travel costs, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer in the EU, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Apple
You and we agree the following, which Apple requires:
- These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for CallSlate or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for CallSlate.
- If CallSlate fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price if applicable. Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to CallSlate, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims.
- If a third party claims CallSlate infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for handling it.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version, and the latest version is published at https://app.callslate.app/terms. Continuing to use CallSlate after a change means you accept it.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
